USAToday.com carried a story today on a teacher that sold advertising on his calculus tests. Read the story here.
Tom Farber found his supply budget had been cut so he started selling advertising on his calculus tests. My question is what type of businesses would advertise? Were these businesses simply showing charity? The only business I can think of would be engineering firms or colleges recruiting for their math/computer science departments.
Regardless of who advertises on the tests, it is still a rather clever idea. I am wondering how long before a student starts selling ad space on their tee shirt to support their efforts to go to college, or how long until high school sports teams start negotiating contracts with their local TV stations to carry games. Now that it has begun, where will it end?
Oh, by the way, please feel free to help send Ken to grad school. I would be thrilled to put your business name on the pages of my blog. Terms can be negotiated!
